The Malaytoor Feast is generally celebrated in April (or last week of March) at the St. Thomas shrine that is believed to be the one of the ancient shrines of the northern part of Kerala. The Malayatoor Feast is generally celebrated after Easter, on the second Sunday, since the first moon, after the Vernal Equinox.
It is believed that the Apostle, who came to India in the first century A.D, visited Malayatoor twice. Pilgrims of all faiths from far and near proceed uphill, chanting the name of the Apostle as the St. Thomas Church is located atop the 2000 m high hill.
